Many years back I attended a free lecture about spirituality.
The lecturer, a foreign-looking mustachioed senior spoke fine English sans racial accents. In the course of his talk he would alternately pause to ask his listeners if they understood what he was saying and to feel free to ask relevant questions only. One man who sat in front of me stood up to post his question. "Sir what do you say about one teacher who said 'you and I or any person for that matter is a spirit with a body. I am confused because we have been taught in school and in church that we are human beings with a physical body with a spirit/soul. I am confused,'Ano ba talaga kuya?' in our local lingua, which is which." "That is a good question to our present topic." replied the lecturer. "I will answer that question by this statement that in a sense is also a question. When you say this is my head or this is my body who do you think is talking who is that one who said 'my body'? continued the lecturer. The man just sat down scratching his head looking more confused. But the lecturer proceeded "I know you are still confused or even more. But do not worry confusion only means you are truly paying attention. Be reminded even Albert Einstein said 'I used to walk away in a state of confusion. I do not mean you can walk away. Sometimes when we think these statements are clear, simple and easy but when we relax and think a little deeper we find that what is clear simple and easy is clearly not easy." So my advice is when confused breath easy and relax and think a little deeper." narrated the elderly lecturer.
Mind you when I got out of that room I thought I was mentally disturbed. So I relaxed did some physical activities and things really got clearer. I knew I was not really confused just mixed up.
