luneta Grandstand Gunfire

It may not be worthwhile reading, Where was Nero when Rome was brning? Nero Claudius Caesar was Roman Emperor in the year 68 AD. Only three of the fourteen districts of Rome during that time were left standing after the fire that lasted more than six days. Untold miseries, loss of lives and properties were the aftermath of the conflagration. Where was Nero?
Some witnesses recorded, he was playing his favorite music by his lyre on the top of his palace.

But in our present time, it is worthwhile asking, where was Jesse R. when the hostage-taker was shooting eight H0ngkong tourists with his M16 high powered gun to their death and still left many others wounded.

Some spoiled mind said he was just behind the grandstand ejoying his favorite music with his favorite smoke. Oh my God let us all pray that our nation may not burn like Rome.

One writer told us not long ago that we Filipinos love to follow a strong leader no matter in what direction. I believed he is right since in truth even in film-making a director is needed, In factories we need supervisors and in ordinary business we need managers.

Yet at the Luneta Grandstand, now famous worldwide, where our own national hero. Dr. Jose Rizal died also by gunfire, there was none, no strong lead even at least during the hostage-taking negotiations. Indeed in our time we need a true and strong leader, not necessarily one who comes from a dynasty like Emperor Nero who comes from the Claudius dynasty. Wanted: a strong leader who is not corrupt and does not kill innocent people.#
