The proposition of some officials, that the Aquino government seemed to back up, to offer compensation to the Hongkong Nationals, victims of a murderous rampage of a hostage-taker ten days ago in Manila might become another blunder. The plan of a "solidarity offering" whatever this means to the families of the victims may become another insult to the injured.
Ten days after the carnage the memories are still fresh in the minds of the Honkong people. They are sure hurting. This solidarity offering is not unlike dropping a few coins as a love offering "abuloy" to the bereaved relatives of a wealthy China Man.
I am very sure they do not need Philippine money. The Hongkong people are hurting. What they need is healing because they are hurt.
What kind of healing? Well, this is for all of us to find the answer.#
