Most of us think and have the understanding that when we talk about legacy it is always about the property and the amount of money handed down to us by our ancestors and parents when they are gone.
Yet looking back and deeper into the old traditions of the Jewish people, there are more sublime, dignifying and more permanent legacies we can bequeath to our children and our children's children and down to the next generation and the next and the next... The Jews put them in writing as a moral will not unlike our present autobiography.
Anyway, let me go back to my topic, Who stole the legacy of whom by citing a passage by Ms Susan Bosak. She said the best place to plant a young tree is not in the open field but in an area not far from the old and grown-up trees. This is so because the roots of the young tree will follow the pathways created by the roots of the old trees and not long after all the roots will graft themselves together, becoming intertwined and interdependent where the roots of the old trees share their available means with the young and the weak that will soon become a strong foundation on the ground.
Thus we aptly say, look and enjoy the thick and lush fastness of that mountain forest. And these are what legacy is all about.
The Legacy of whom.
Gloria Arroyo claims Noynoy is trying to systematically erase the legacy she had built the last nine years, by launching black propaganda campaign and character assassinations. And by claiming that all the economic fundamentals she had put up that Noynoy now feast and shamelessly claims as all his own. When in truth he has no will or skill to wade on uncertain waters of the economy.
Yet, Noynoy strongly suspect, though to himself and his immediate circle of relatives and friends only, that Arroyo hired Corona to make sure Hacienda Luisita be finally distributed to the farm-workers. Hacienda Luisita, a vast track of valuable land his ancestry will never give up without a fight, no matter how long. Hacienda Luisita is a priceless jewel, a legacy his ancestrey will hand down to their descendants - Noynoy included.
As the fight is currently going on I might as well suggest to let history decide as to who stole the legacy of whom. Just as we read in history, Who stole the money of the Aguinaldo revolution down to Antonio Luna and finally to Ysidra Cowangco. And which legacy is really for the common good?
The proprietary and pecuniary or the ethical, moral and cultural as best explained by the thick and lush fastness of the mountain forest.
come on read and make your day a little easier.
