I'll take a break from the politics of Noynoy,Corona and Gloria Arroyo in their struggle for supremacy.
Though I hate talking about myself. Today I'll talk about me, my ability to live happy with my disability. The prefix dis I only added to my abilities last 2005. I had a heart by-pass surgery and a devastating stroke that later triggered crippling arthritis. And as if all these were not enough I was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. Being metted out such chronic and deadly ailments did not make me angry with anyone nor blame my parents my family nor God. During my first months many things had to change, my lifestyle, from normal to 'abno' my left hand and left foot unserviceable, foods I relish no longer allowed, friends once aplenty become few, walking was almost impossible without cane. It was life most debilitating, I thought the heavens had fallen down on me.

I stayed on vacation in Singapore, by doctor's advice in the hope of faster recovery. There I stayed in the park almost daily and used their exercise machines with other local citizens who also gave advice for my complete recovery. I joined their Tai chi and when I got back to the house I sat in front of the computer. First on my list was to search for inspiring passages about disability. In the bible I read Luke 14:12-13
Mark 2:1-12 John 5:1-47 and Hebrew 12:12-14.
Slowly I gained more strength.

Next on my list was to search for the best food, a diet most suitable to my prevailing health. I tried many including vegan diet. But after a month I became so thin and famished-looking that I felt all I had was a pair of hip-bone enough to hold my pants up. Yet my strength continue to improve though slowly, as I tried some other programmed diets.

Next was the kind of lifestyle I had to adopt, the kind of execises and the prayers.
From there I recalled I had a formal training in writing in school. So why not re-explore it? I started my first blog
"blogkotozeemo" with some of my experiences as a person with disability.

When I got back to the Philippines I created another blog
"blagmell/blogspot.com" with sworn persistency. In a few months I have about 160 posts in various topics including in other websites like Word Press and Twitter .

Thanks to the advent of modern technology, telecommunications and the Internet, My passion for writing had been refashioned and revived. Writing is art as disability is also an art. Though most of the time I felt being isolated an lonely - as a disabled. Writers as an artist need loneliness to be more creative. This was how I rebutted the idea. They say it is sad to be lonely. To them I say no, not, because a writer's mind travel faster than a jet- plane. My mind has gone halfway around the globe while the pilot is still putting on his shoes.

Disability is nothing to be ashamed of, I wear it with a smile. I don't think of it as a struggle to make life happy.
My ability to overcome my disability had made my resourcefulness and inventiveness a way to live happy.
As one grow older more disabilities come - do not fight growing older for you will be unhappy. Just let it happen and live it day by day, if possible long enough.
Yes, I say it with a smile I am only one of the one billion disabled persons in the world, so my case may also be called a world event.
to persons who are above 50 take care of your health its your wealth
