" I have nothing to do with the past, I have nothing to do with the future I live now." said Ralph Waldo Emerson, a famed author. I like RWE's way of thinking his line of reasoning, but at one point I have to beg to argue.
I can hardly live or do without my past because I spent most of my life there. That is why my visit to my past, though not regularly is most of the time worthwhile. Yes there were sad moments which I could handle with care and even swear not to repeat. And there were happy times that make my life a day younger. On Sundays my FM radio is always tuned in to the classical music of the 60s. I love it. And when I hear them in groceries, barber shops, train stations and even jeepneys I know the tuners and listeners are in their senior years.
By the way, why do most young people look down on the old as if all seniors smell like earth? True all seniors are getting closer to their pre-departure areas that at any given time they will wear no perfume but formaldehyde. I assure you all out there I did not dream of becoming old. It just occurred to me.
Rest assured you will be a lot luckier if it can also happen to you.
i trembled the other day when i just saw my very first white hair! probably halfway there.
