In my early days as a salesman I remember writing in big letters "Today I can". I posted it near our apartment door that I may take a look at it before leaving for work everyday. I posted another on my dashboard. Yes bits of inspiring words that did wonders in my life.
I remember a story told by one of our guest speakers in a sales seminar. "One morning, he opened. a teacher asked her students to write in ten minutes everything that they cannot do. Example: I can't tell my father my grades are low.; I can't come to class early. etc... Okay get a whole pad with your pen and that will be our class-work the whole day. If everybody ready now, begin." As the teacher went around she saw and observed the students writing. 'I can't come to class early. I can't come to class with all my heavy books. I can't ask good grades from my teacher.' etc... The class was abnormally quiet that day. When ten minutes was over the teacher said "Ok ten minutes is over all papers on my desk. Are you sure you have written all you can't do?" Yes teacher replied the students. "Then all of us will go out and you will follow me. We will pass by the school's property costudian's office and barrow a small size hole digger and we will proceed to the school ground at the back. The boys will take turns in digging the hole." said the teacher. When the hole was big and wide enough the teacher called the students "Okay by now we are ready to perform our task. Follow me in prayers. 'Lord we thank you for guiding us in all that we do today. At this hour we will finally set to rest "I Can't" bless this burial ground that 'I can't' may never haunt us again and leave us to do what we can the rest of our lives Amen". All the papers were buried. "Did you follow the story?" asked the speaker. One participant commented, "Yes Sir, perhaps that could be one of the reasons our canteen is serving us coke in cans, and maybe even beer in cans tonight!" Everyone responded a roaring brouhaha.
