Spratly Islands Diplomatic Ratatat

Spratlys this group of islands that has land area of about less than four square kilometers but sacattered over 420,000 square kilometers of sea, with no known natives or residents except some military personnel posted in some claimed islands. Spratly islands, which name is attributed to Richard Spratly the European seaman in th late 20th century is now the focus of diplomatic ratatat in the Southeast Asian region. In terms of economic importance this group of islands has very little economic value perhaps because of its remoteness from the capitals and population centers of the claimants. However, recent studies may seem to prove that these islands are situated on a spot rich in oil and gas deposits, hence, the on-going diplomatic chicaneries.

Diplomacy?
* the tail between the legs kind of diplomacy
* Carrot and stick kind of diplomacy
* Speak softly but carry a big stick kind of diplomacy

As to who among the claimants: China, Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan and Brunei are practicing which kind of the above diplomacy? Please tell us. bye #Mel
