The defeat of Mar Roxas in the recently held 2010 general elections speaks well with his kind of lifestyle As the often repeated phrase ' at the end of the day' is often spoken about by most politicos in Tv and radio interviews, its true meaning came about in Roxas experience in the polls.
Well, at the end of the day Good Manners and Right conduct as taught in schools not long ago has emerged triumphant. It does not pay to speak bad words in public. It is easily foregivable to pick your nose or even scratch your balls in public but please do not shout bad words in public.
I remember so well during a big political rally in Makati City at the start of the election fever when Mar Roxas got up the stage and started blurting out in bad tone against the Arroyo administration, using profane language, shouting expletives 'ptttnaa nyo' in front of thousands of people, specially the priests, the sisters and nuns, the business professionals, in front of the stage and heard all over the nation by television an radio.
Roxas' now chief rival for the vice presidency was also present during that rally but was carefully in control of himself and talked a little softer. Maybe Binay's grade in GMC was a little higher or maybe he was always present when the subject was taught in the classroom.
Another thing that did not really work well with Mar is when he married a woman who is well-known for her 'taray', mal-treatment and abuse of domestic helps and her being so popular and whose only forte in the media is criticize, 'batikos, batikos batikos however little or big the administration is doing.
So at the end of the day these factual events in Roxas life did not help him so well in the last May 2010 general elections. In truth GMC should be brought back into the classrooms. # mel
